Winter Whiskey Drinks with Stranahan's
Just in time for chilly winter temps and holiday get-togethers, here are two of our favorite boozy drinks to keep you toasty (and maybe a little toasted). We’ve crafted two delicious concoctions featuring Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey to help celebrate their 200th batch and our limited edition Klettersack (available in stores starting 12/7/16).
For that warm and fuzzy feeling when it’s snowing outside we recommend a Whiskey Spiced Cider. Not only is it delicious, but while it’s warming away in the crock pot your house (or office, in our case) will smell like holiday heaven.
Whiskey Spiced Cider
Ingredients:
- Large jug of apple juice
- 4 clementines
- Whole cloves
- Stranahan’s Single Malt Whiskey
Garnish:
- Cinnamon sticks
- Orange
1. Add your apple juice to the crock pot. If you have a smaller crockpot, just fill it ¾ of the way full with the juice.
2. Stick your whole cloves into the clementines so each one has about 5-6 whole cloves stuck in it. Push the smaller end in first so the bigger end is still sticking out through the skin.
3. Drop your clementines into the crock pot and turn it on high for 6-8 hours. If the cider starts bubbling just turn it to low or warm.
4. When the cider is smelling too good to resist and you’re ready to serve, pour your desired amount of whiskey into a cup (or a festive mug like we did) and then add in your cider. Or, leave out the whiskey for a kid-friendly cider everyone can enjoy.
5. Serve with a cinnamon stick and an orange slice (and your favorite Christmas cookie).
Or if you’re looking for an updated, wintery spin on a classic, check out the Maple Whiskey Sour. It packs a punch and is just what you need to get your Christmas party started.
Maple Whiskey Sour
Ingredients:
- 1t Maple syrup (spring for the good stuff, it’s worth it!)
- 1t Cinnamon
- ½ Lemon
- Stranahan’s Single Malt Whiskey
- Ice
Garnish:
- Rosemary sprigs
- Orange
1. In a cocktail shaker add a few cubes of ice, your desired amount of whiskey, syrup, cinnamon, and the juice from the ½ a lemon (or a clementine works great, too). Real bartenders may use martini shakers, but in a pinch, we’ve found that a travel mug or tumbler can make a perfect substitute.
2. Shake it up!
3. Pour your drink in a glass over ice and garnish with a rosemary sprig and orange slice.
Serve and enjoy.
